My boyfriend and I recently moved in together. During the first few weeks, whenever I came home from work, I'd get angry at him because I'd come home to a messy house - dishes in the sink, pots on the counter, clothes on the couch, etc. Then, I remembered what I learned from Marcus Aurelius, and I told myself to stop expecting to come home to a clean house. Worked wonders. Now, before I walk through the door, I tell myself not to expect a clean house. Amazing how that's helped our relationship. Instead of nagging at him to clean, I just do it myself. And I feel much happier.
