It's scary how much I resonate and can relate to your story. I went through a similar experience. So I know how much strength and courage it took for you to end things. In spite of:

-How "comfortable" it would've been to stay with him

-Knowing he may not understand your reasons or forgive you

-Your father and friends being confused about why you weren't fulfilled with the relationship

You chose to listen to your intuitive voice telling you that something was wrong.
